Big Trees Small Plants
Seeing the site for the first time, tree canopies hovering over like giant perforated umbrellas filtering morning light, left a lasting impression, and became the primary inspiration for the project.

The programme is vertically organised, allowing the building to occupy a smaller footprint while leaving generous garden space around the house.  Each level engages with the landscape differently, offering varied experiences of the garden.

Accessed via an external staircase, the main living area is conceived as a void between the grounded base and the thick, soaring roof. The linear living space opens to a verandah that runs the entire length of the house. Raised to align with tree canopies, partially covered and partially sunken, and imbued with a casual, breezy disposition, it's a space waiting to happen.

In the thick soaring overhang, drawn down by slender columns are the introverted sleeping areas, privately retreating among treetops and awakening to birdsong.
